This model can either be built as the NX-2000 or NCC-2000 version of the ship.
At first considered "the great experiment", the Excelsior-class airframe proved stout enough to serve the Federation for generations. The first ship in the classm the USS Excelsior NX-2000 was the prototype and first to depart the orbital San Francisco Shipyards in 2285 on an emergency mission in pursuit of the USS Enterprise Refit. The Enterprise, having been covertly hijacked by Admiral James T. Kirk, escaped through a bit of ingenious reprogramming of Excelsior's computer by Captain Montgomery Scott.
With that misstep out of the gate, the ship would eventually be slightly refitted and was re-commissioned as the USS Excelsior NCC-2000 under the command of Enterprise alumnus Captain Hikaru Suli. The NCC-2000 served a storied career along with many other Excelsior-class ships that fought fearlessly during multiple Borg incursions and the Dominion War.
This model kit represents the fan-favourite ship and features many updated details including its lower hull with open bay. Optional parts are included to represent the model as the NX-2000 or NCC-2000. It features a dome base with metal suport rod and marking decals for both versions of the ship.
